Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife’s conspicuous absence has finally been explained following reports that her marriage to the former Army General has hit the rocks.
In another stunning development, Zimbabwe’s second lady Mary Chiwenga was recently served with a directive to vacate their Borrowdale home by her estranged husband.
According to online publication, ZimLive. the former beauty queen, Mary, was recently ordered to move out of the Borrowdale home by Friday 7 December. and leave behind their two children together – a boy and a girl aged eight and seven.
Sources said Chiwenga, who was nursed back to health at a military hospital in Beijing after having suffered from a blocked oesophagus amid poisoning rumours. Chiwenga is reported to have suspected Mary’s hand in his poisoning and of infidelity.
Chiwenga and Mary are reported to have crossed swords after the latter asked for a Marriage Act (Chapter 5:11) union as the 63-year-old battled for his life in a Pretoria hospital. Chiwenga customarily married Mary in 2011 when he paid a whopping US$47 000 as the bride price, but the couple were yet to solemnize the marriage under the country’s Marriage Act Chapter 5:11.
The publication also added that the vice-president had sent an emissary to Mary with Gupuro-a Shona token of divorce-just before his dramatic return. Upon his return, Chiwenga enlisted the services of Harare lawyer Wilson Manase to process the divorce.
Manase, while confirming Chiwenga was his client, declined to comment>chaosafrica
