Chaosafrica understands that a furious Vice President Constantino Chiwenga ordered her arrest following a stormy family meeting on Friday. The meeting was meant to discuss the way forward following the collapse of the couple’s eight-year marriage.
The Vice President Chiwenga filed for divorce and some reports say there are allegations of infidelity and poisoning. The 63-year-old Chiwenga was reportedly upset by Mary’s demand that he should write a will at a time when he was battling for his life and accused her of being more concerned about material things rather than his welfare.
However, at the family meeting on Friday, Mary is reported to have been in a combative mood and was taking no prisoners. Mary furiously defended herself and became indiscrete as she launched barbed counter attacks at the retired General. According to online publication, Zimlive, the 36-year-old former model categorically denied rumours that she had cheated on Chiwenga. She insisted that she had remained faithful despite the fact that the couple’s sex life was virtually none-existant.
Furious at the revelations, the Vice President is reported to have ordered her arrest. Chiwenga who has already filed for divorce and is currently working on evicting Mary from the couple’s sumptuous Borrowdale mansion is reported to have grabbed the couple’s three children. The children aged eight, seven and five were taken into Chiwenga’s custody after Mary was arrested. Mary’s two other children from her past relationships were shipped off to her mother’s, Helga Mubaiwa.
During the meeting, Chiwenga also accused Mary of trying to force him to marry her at the time that when he was battling for his life from suspected poisoning. Mary has since been charged with misrepresentation for allegedly misrepresenting to the acting chief magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi that Chiwenga wanted a court officer to come and solemnize the marriage. They were reported to have been married in highly secretive function in June.
Mary was also arrested on charges of fraud and money laundering after allegedly purchased a house in Pretoria and two luxurious Range Rover SUVs worth approximately R14 million (US$1 million). Mary on her side insists that she did so because she wanted to protect the couple’s privacy, which could not be guaranteed when booking into hotels.
Part of the internal Zimbabwe Republic Police memo of Mary’s arrest and detention obtained by ZimLive reads
