Willard Katsande Donates R50 000 Food To Needy Families In His Rural Home Village

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and former Warriors captain, Willard Katsande has donated food to needy and vulnerable families in his rural home area of Mutoko.

The beneficiaries are some of the people who have been hit hard by the national lockdown which was imposed by the government to curb the transmission of the coronavirus (Covid-19). President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday announced that the lockdown in Zimbabwe has been extended indefinitely.

Katsande donated R50 000 worth of groceries to 200 vulnerable members of the Kawere and Makochekera villages in Mutoko.

Writing on social media, Katsande said,

Covid 19 has changed our lives and in these extraordinary times we had to do our part and help by donating food parcels in my rural area of Mutoko in Mashonaland East ??Despite these difficult times we will always offer our support to others where we can.#kitokomakasi

This comes a few weeks after Katsande dismissed reports on social media that he was donating basic commodities to Zimbabweans in South Africa who have been negatively affected by the lockdown in that country.

Addressing reports that Katsande together with teammate Khama Billiat had arranged to dish out goodies in Soweto, the tough-tackling midfielder said,

“It’s so bad to spread such malicious information. Why should I gather people to give them commodities when the authorities are saying people should not gather? There is no specific location in the story because Soweto is bigger than Mutare or Harare

“What I am worried about is my people back home in Mutoko whom I feel they are less privileged and need my assistance,” said Katsande>chaosafrica
