Mozambique Army Exposed After Executing A Naked Woman On A Video
A gruesome scene short of a horror movie emerged on social media early in this present month of September
The publication understands the video came from the southern African nation of Mozambique that is currently reeling under extreme Islamist insurgents.
Mozambique has suffered the biggest increase in attacks by Islamist militants globally since last year.
Early this month, al-Shabab fighters captured a heavily guarded port in the Mozambican town of Mocimboa da Praia.
It is believed the region has been an easy turf for human rights atrocities from both the Mozambican government army and Islamist insurgents as a means to show off their horrendous prowess – on civilians.
In the latest video that made rounds this month, four men in army uniform were shown chasing down a terrified naked civilian woman before executing her on the road through 36 AK47 rounds.
Warning: The video contains gruesome and disturbing scenes that could not be uploaded on the publication.
But due to distorted information spreading online, efforts to locate where, when and who were shown on the horrifying video were fruitless – at least till last Friday.
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and BBC have – after month-long research – established the most probable place where the incident happened.
Through an online technology, a GPS location where the video was shot , has established that indeed the incident took place in northern Mozambique at a town called Oasse. This is the region with intense clashes between Islamic Insurgents and the Mozambican army.
After analyzing the angle of the men’s shadows on the video, it is safe to say they were towards the south proving the time could be September – amid the recent unrests and by then, only the Mozambique army was present in the deserted town.
But it’s hard to establish who was involved in the killing of an unarmed woman. This is because both the Islamic insurgents and the army do wear the same uniforms at times. In fact, the Islamic rebels are known for impersonating the army by wearing their uniforms.
After public responses to the video, the publication has established that the language is spoken and their accents back the theory that these men were government forces. Portuguese was used in communication and the accent used is usually from the southern part of the country where the Mozambique government has control.
Islamic insurgents are usually heard speaking in KiSwahili or Arabic.
They can be heard telling the woman that she was from the “al-Shabab, hence she should be killed.” Only government forces are against the al-Shabab.
However, even after so much evidence on the government’s atrocities, the Mozambique army and government have denied that the men in the video are from the army. The government claims that the videos were doctored>Chaosafrica
