In a sad development, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation Matabeleland South province deputy director allegedly hanged himself near his house following a misunderstanding with his first wife.
The late Mr. Elfas Siziba age 58 is reported to have hanged himself in a bushy area near his house in Gwanda town following a misunderstanding he had with his first wife.
After having an altercation with his wife, Siziba left his house on Saturday at around 10 PM. Apparently that was the last time his family saw him alive. His body was only found the next day hanging from a tree by a passer-by who alerted the police.
Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident saying his body was found hanging from a tree near Nssa Complex in the Central Business District.
“I can confirm that we recorded a case of sudden death by hanging near Nssa Complex in Gwanda. Elfas Siziba was last seen by his family on Saturday at around 10 PM as he retired to bed. He was found hanging from a tree at around 9 AM. The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene and his body was taken to Gwanda Provincial Hospital mortuary,” she said.
He left behind a suicide note claiming that he had a misunderstanding with his first wife. However, it is not clear what kind of dispute the two had that would cause the late Siziba to commit suicide
Insp Mangena revealed that investigations were already underway to examine and establish what really transpired on that particular day.
