President Trump Refuses To Commit To A Peaceful Transfer Of Power If He Loses November US Elections

A tale short of dictators’ folklore has found itself on the history books of the ‘land of the free’.

President Donald Trump has refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses November’s US elections, he said at a news conference at the White House on Wednesday.

When quizzed if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he were to lose elections to Democrat hopeful, Joe Biden, the United State president did not mince his words telling reporters that the elections were a disaster, hence no result should be acceptable.

“I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots, and the ballots are a disaster,” Mr Trump said

“Get rid of the ballots, and you’ll have a very – you’ll have a very peaceful – there won’t be a transfer, frankly, there’ll be a continuation,” he threatened.

His stance is not new to dictators worldwide. But to hear it coming from the US – which boasts the most democratic country in the world – dagnabbit!

This is not the first time Mr Trump threatened undemocratic means of sharing power in the US.

Back in 2016, he refused to accept the election results against Hillary Clinton. Although he eventually won the presidency, Trump still questions the previous elections.

Trump’s sentiments were being referred to his much-disputed claims that mail-in ballots are vulnerable to fraud.

He believes that the Democrat Joe Biden, who’s currently leading in national opinion polls stands at an advantage through the mail-in ballot voting to win the November US elections.

Mr Trump also said he believed the election result could end up in the US Supreme Court – “win, lose or draw”.
