RESIDENTS were shocked on Tuesday when news broke that a church leader and his daughter had been shot and killed.
Gunmen entered their home on Godoza Street in Khayelitsha’s Town Two, Cape Town, and killed Kwanele Magibisela (59) and his daughter Zanele (23).
Kwanele was the leader of the Apostolic Church of Zion. His wife Thobeka (48) survived by locking herself in her bedroom.
She told Daily Sun: “Two men wearing masks entered our house. Our nephew was watching TV in the dining room and I was in the kitchen making tea.
“They asked his name and when he told them, they slapped him. They then asked my daughter and when she responded, they shot her. They then shot my husband.”
Thobeka said if she had not been making tea, she probably would have been killed.
“I locked myself in the bedroom and only came out after they had left. My daughter died on the scene and my husband died later in hospital,” she said.

Residents said in October there was another shooting at a house in the same street.
“We’re living in fear as we don’t know the motive behind these attacks. I live alone and always keep my house locked,” said one woman.
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said two murder cases were opened at Lingelethu Police Station.
“Police were called to the scene and on arrival, they were told unidentified men entered the house and shot a man and his 23-year-old daughter,” she said.
“The woman was declared dead on the scene while the man died on arrival at the hospital. Police are investigating.”-Daily Sun
