Breaking: Bomb scare in Harare CBD

Vice President of Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC A) Tendai Biti alleges there has been a bomb scare in Harare CBD near Parliament building this afternoon.

Biti said this after finishing Public Accounts Committee business when a strange silver box was left abandoned on a pavement in Kwame Nkurumah avenue. Biti said;

We have just finished a Public Accounts Committee at Parliament. Regrettably there is a bomb scare at same. There is a strange silver box left outside the pavement in Kwame Nkurumah Avenue . We pray for safety and peace . The right to life is sacrosanct #ZimbabweanLivesMatter

Others claim that is why Kwame Nkurumah Avenue has been sealed off between Third Street and Second Street.

The only other major event witnessed of terrorist calibre is when Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa on 23 June 2018 survived an apparent bomb attack at a rally in the city of Bulawayo.

President Mnangagwa said an object “exploded a few inches away from me – but it is not my time”.

Video footage from White City Stadium shows an explosion happening close to Mr Mnangagwa as he leaves the stage after addressing supporters.

The president was in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second city and an opposition stronghold, to campaign for his Zanu-PF party ahead of nationwide elections taking place on 30 July.
