Iran’s women’s national team goalkeeper, Zohreh Koudaei, has been accused of being a man after saving two penalties against Jordan.

The 32-year-old put up a decisive performance as her country defeated Jordan to qualify for their first-ever Women’s Asia Cup.

Koudaei saved two penalties to help Iran to record a 4-2 victory in the shootout following a stalemate between the two teams.

In the aftermath of the game, the Jordan FA petitioned the Asian Football Federation (AFC) to do a gender verification check on the goalkeeper.
