Drama As Mwonzora Abandons People He Promised US$10 To Attend His Rally
There was drama in the dead of the night as Douglas Mwonzora abandoned people he had promised to pay US$10 to attend his rally held at the Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfield, Harare yesterday.
Scores of people were left stranded at Morgan Tsvangirai House (formerly Harvest House) in Harare as they waited for the opposition party to meet its end of the bargain. Vocal government critic and journalist Hopewell Chin’ono reported that these people were promised US$10 each if they attended Mwonzora’s rally.

Zimbabwe’s bogus opposition party @OurMDCT led by ZANUPF’s political puppet @DMwonzora has left hundreds of Zimbabweans stranded in Harare after bussing them to its rally and promising them US$10 each.
They were not feed too!

The “paid” supporters were bussed from all over Zimbabwe to attend the rally. The operators of the buses which were also parked at Morgan Tsvangirai House, were also not paid for bussing the party’s “supporters”.
Local publication, NewsHawks, passed through the MDC-T Headquarters just after midnight and saw the supporters still stranded, waiting in vain for Mwonzora’s officials to come and pay them their dues.

The NewsHawks passed through Harvest House (now known as Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House) and seen the stranded MDC-T supporters and hired drivers.
They say they were promised US$500 each for coming from as far as Gweru and Masvingo, but MDC-T leaders are nowhere to be found.— TheNewsHawks (@NewsHawksLive) March 13, 2022
Douglas Mwonzora has been accused of conniving with the ruling ZANU PF to destroy Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens’ Coalition for Change, which has been on a high-riding by-elections campaign trail.
Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono revealed that before the rally, ZANU PF and the MDC-T had a meeting, and the former agreed to provide buses and supporters to attend Mwonzora’s rally.
