KUDAKWASHE Mahachi attempted to hide his four-year-old son’s horrific burns by instructing his relatives and the caretaker of his Cowdray Park suburb house, where the child was kept when he arrived from South Africa, not to take him to hospital but to give him home treatment.
After his son was taken to hospital, a cross Mahachi, who is based in South Africa and plays for Supersport United, is said to have sent only US$600 for medical bills.

“Mahachi did not want the child in hospital.
He told the caretaker and his sisters and grandmother not to take him to hospital. He said he will provide money for the child to be treated at home.

“However, the sisters and the grandmother refused to keep the child at home after the caretaker called them to Cowdray Park. They called the child’s mother (Maritha Ndlovu) and a decision was made to take the child to hospital,” said the relative.

“He felt betrayed and he did not hide his anger.
He didn’t want the mother and the world to know what he had done to his son. But, there is no way they could hide such injuries.

“This issue has divided the family and Mahachi is no longer in good books with his sisters and grandmother and he is not taking their advice.
He only sent US$600 for the child’s medical bills and medication. He gave strict instructions that his ex-wife must not be given a cent.
He has not sent any money since,” said the relative.
Mahachi said he was paying his son’s medical bills and refused to comment further.
