THE Chitungwiza woman, who was arrested for keeping her husband’s decomposing body in her house for close to a week, has been sent for mental examination before a bail hearing.

The 66-year-old Plaxedes Mashasha will have to wait a bit longer before testing freedom after her bail hearing was rolled over to the 9th of December as she undergoes mental examination.

She had approached the Chitungwiza Regional Court on her own for bail application.

Allegations are that sometime this month, Gogo Mashasha left her ailing 80-year-old husband in the care of her son, Grant, who is believed to be mentally challenged.

The court heard that on her return Gogo Mashasha discovered that her husband had died but she allegedly decided to keep the body in the house until it reached the advanced decomposition stage.

The matter came to light after a man whom she had hired for repairs at the house alerted the police after suspecting that there was a decomposing body in the house.

The court further heard that police found Gideon’s body in one of the rooms, while Gogo Mashasha’s son Grant was found hiding in the ceiling.
The 66-year-old granny who was remanded in custody is expected to be back in court on the 9th of December with a mental examination report
