The Herald reports that following his attack, he is now currently seeking to be transferred to another prison as he awaits his bail hearing.

The wealthy businessman was arrested by South African Police Services (SAPS) earlier this month at an upmarket hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg over a number of charges that include child trafficking, immigration violations and forgery.

Frank Buyanga’s charges emanate from 2020 when he allegedly kidnapped his son from his baby mama Chantelle Muteswa.

“The charges emanate from an incident which took place in April 2020 in Zimbabwe where the suspect kidnapped his next of kin and fled with him to South Africa.

“A warrant of arrest was immediately issued by Zimbabwean Authorities after which a red notice was also issued by Interpol Harare,” reads the police statement.

Following his arrest, Frank Buyanga had his arrest warrant cancelled at the Harare Magistrate Court after Magistrate Mrs Judith Taruvinga stated she had erroneously issued the warrant of arrest.

A couple of days later, the Zimbabwean National Prosecuting Authority applied to the High Court in Harare challenging the cancellation of his warrant arrest.

Prosecutor-General Nelson Mutsonziwa wants the High Court to set aside Magistrate Taruvinga’s judgment. In his application, he argued that the warrant was cancelled without following due process.

“The court presided over a matter in which it lacked jurisdiction to cancel a warrant of arrest after it had been executed by law enforcement authorities of the Republic of South Africa under an extradition request made to it by the Republic of Zimbabwe,” reads part of Muysonziwa’s application.

Meanwhile, Frank Buyanga’s lawyer is doing everything in his power to ensure that his client has a speedy bail hearing
