In a surprising turn of events, Ibbo Mandaza, a prominent Zimbabwean academic and SAPES Trust boss, has disclosed inside information regarding plans by leaders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to nullify President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial victory in the recent elections.

The August 23rd election in Zimbabwe faced criticism from SADC and other observer missions, who deemed it flawed. Mandaza, a respected political analyst, has expressed concerns about the legitimacy of Mnangagwa’s re-election. In a recent interview with AMH boss Trevor Ncube, he revealed that SADC is likely to convene an extraordinary summit to discuss the way forward for Zimbabwe.

According to Mandaza, SADC leaders are determined to push Mnangagwa into a negotiated settlement with opposition groups to determine the future of the country. He shared that several SADC foreign ministers have privately expressed their intent to challenge Mnangagwa’s victory in the election. Mandaza stated, “I have been in touch with all governments in the region at the level of foreign affairs,” he said

“It’s clear that this will not be put under the carpet.

“There is no legitimacy; the inauguration of Emmerson can be reversed under the rules.”
