This generous gesture from Sir Wicknell comes as a token of appreciation for DJ Masomere’s support of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu PF party.
David Masomere, widely recognized for his association with the catchphrase “Jah Prayzah zvakwana,” also holds a teaching position at Ndarama High.
The story behind DJ Masomere’s property seizure traces back to an unpaid debt of $1,080 for a PA system and audio equipment he had rented for various high-profile Zanu PF events.
The DJ, well-known for his role as a master of ceremonies at President Mnangagwa’s rallies, including the presidential inauguration, found himself embroiled in a legal dispute over this debt.
Masomere had rented the equipment from Simbarashe Edwin Mupakamiso’s company, Meldwin-Tech Investments, for a series of political rallies. However, despite the exposure and use of the equipment, he failed to honour the financial obligation.
Masomere attempted to dispute the debt in court, citing Mupakamiso’s affiliation with the ruling Zanu PF party. He suggested that both he and Mupakamiso had expected political appreciation in the future, making the debt a gesture of gratitude. In contrast, Mupakamiso maintained that it was a purely business transaction unrelated to politics.
The court ultimately ruled in favour of Mupakamiso, ordering Masomere to pay the $1,080 debt plus interest. When the DJ failed to comply with the court’s order, his property was seized. Police officers arrived at Masomere’s residence and confiscated items, including a refrigerator, TV, and lounge set.
However, Sir Wicknell’s generous gift has now turned the tide for DJ Masomere, providing him with a brand-new luxury vehicle worth $65,000.
This unexpected turn of events demonstrates the interconnectedness of politics and personal generosity in Zimbabwe, leaving many intrigued by the drama surrounding the “Jah Prayzah Zvakwana” DJ
