A total of 27 human trafficking victims were rescued by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit in Edenvale.
On Saturday, 21 October 2023, officers received information about illegal immigrants being illegally kept in Edenvale.
The officers proceeded to the given location, and upon their arrival, they found approximately 30 illegal male immigrants who were trafficked into the country.
While interviewing the illegal immigrants, they started running out of the room that they were kept in, and the officers managed to contain 27 victims.
Edenvale SAPS, Hawks and Home Affairs Immigration were called to the scene and the victims were taken to Edenvale SAPS where they were processed to be deported back to Ethiopia.
