Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) sources have disclosed why Tanya Rushesha, the 35-year-old daughter of Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, was arrested on Friday.
News of Tanya Rushesha’s arrest spread quickly on social media, causing a stir as people speculated about the reasons behind it.
It has now been revealed that detectives from the police commercial crimes unit arrested Tanya Rozina Rushesha after three individuals accused her of scamming them. According to a ZRP source who spoke to ZimLive, Rushesha approached business owners, claiming to sell bulk fuel. The business owners placed large orders and paid her, but she failed to deliver the fuel.
“She approached these business owners saying she sells bulk fuel and they placed large orders after giving her money. She has failed to deliver,” a ZRP source said.
When contacted for comment, ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he had not yet received information about the arrest.
Nyathi said:
“I’m yet to receive any information.”
Attempts to reach the Defense Minister for a statement were unsuccessful, as she was returning from an official trip to Zambia at the time.
