Noel Muzenda, 39, was recorded assaulting his son, Frank Mzenda, aged 10, with an electric cable and the video was posted on social media, leading to his arrest.
Frank sustained a swollen cheek, bruises on the back and on the right foot and has been complaining of pain on the right ankle.
He was referred to hospital for medical examinations.
The incident took place in Eastview Phase 6 when his wife Sarah Mafara, 36, was away for a church conference in Hwedza.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.
“Police arrested an Eastview man in connection with a video that went viral on social media assaulting his son,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances were that the accused sent the victim to a tuckshop to buy some tomatoes.
“The victim failed to return in time prompting the accused to make a follow-up.
“He found him busy playing with other kids on his way back.
“This could not go down well with the accused person who started to assault the victim up to his residence.
“The accused went further to assault the victim with an electric cable, bricks and a tying wire.
“The victim, together with his other three siblings, have since been taken to a safe house and investigations are continuing,” said Insp Chakanza.
Noel was discharged from the police force in December 2016 after being convicted for an accident in which he was driving without a driver’s licence

In this kind of a situation you find that An abuser may have been abused also and that child may stand higher chances of being an abuser also, a bad chain that needs to be broken by not breaking the already broken ,they both are victims of what supersedes them ,only with Unconditional Love can it be resolved then
