The sighting of military vehicles, tanks, and personnel in Harare today strongly resembled the 2017 coup d’état. What a time to be alive in Zimbabwe, as a second coup d’état may be underway if Emmerson Mnangagwa does not heed the war veterans’ call to step down as President of Zimbabwe.

Over the last two weeks, Mnangagwa has faced severe backlash over his presidency from prominent war veterans, led by Cde Blessed “Bombshell” Geza.

As of today, reports indicate that Cde Geza has been safeguarded by the army after an arrest warrant was issued by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following his recent press conferences. With tensions nearing their peak, Cde Geza was initially stationed at Inkomo Barracks, located near Nyabira. Two days ago, he was transported to Manyame Air Base, where he was flown to South Africa. Since Inkomo does not have a major runway, his transfer to Manyame Air Base was necessary for the flight.

Further reports suggest that KGVI Barracks, the base for the Presidential Guard, has been quietly neutralized.

For those familiar with the events of 2017, the previous coup d’état was initially orchestrated from Inkomo Barracks. The military vehicles and tanks seen in Harare today were part of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade, which is based at Inkomo Barracks.

ZANU-PF spokesperson Cde Nicholas Mnangagwa has dismissed the military presence as part of a scheduled exercise—the same explanation given during the previous coup. However, according to the Constitution, all citizens should be made aware of military activities in advance.

The display of military power is widely interpreted as a direct warning to Mnangagwa and his family, who have been accused of hijacking the country. If the message is ignored, the military presence could continue for another three days.

As far as I am concerned, Emmerson Mnangagwa is no longer in charge—and as it stands, the military wants him gone.

THEY ARE ON STANDBY!
