Breaking:MSU hit by Covid 19

Midlands State University (MSU) in Gweru has suspended lectures with immediate effect after 28 students tested positive to Covid 19, it has been established.

Acting Midlands provincial medical director Dr Reginald Mhene confirmed the cases but could not give figures as he kept promising to send the requested information until the time of going to press.
Midlands State University director of information, Mrs Miriam Mawere said students are continuing with their lessons online after the proposal to suspend the face-to-face lectures.

“We continue to observe the situation on campus while enforcing the WHO guidelines on health measures that should be taken for COVID-19 virus not to spread. There are recommendations being made to suspend face-to-face lectures at the university, but will only be able to give you more information in the afternoon,” said Mrs. Mawere.

Deputy Mayor of Gweru, Clr Shiri, posted on a Senga residents Whatsapp group, warning residents to guide against the spread of the virus in the area.

“Morning residents, they are several cases of people who tested positive to Covid 19 in Senga, let us maintain WHO regulations,” reads the statement posted by Clr Shiri. –Willie Mponda
