A South Africa based businessman was reportedly killed by his employee who stabbed him on the throat using a screw driver last month after the latter was accused of stealing.

Admire Dziko, 28, who is also a nephew to the late Elijah Bonface Mubure, 59, then stole some money and other valuables before fleeing to Zimbabwe.

According to court papers, Mabure had employed Dziko as a shop attendant in one of his shop outlets in South Africa.

Dziko was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Thrursday charged with murder.

He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

The State represented by Anesu Chirenje alleges that sometime in August 2021, Dziko was dismissed from work by Mabure as a result of misconduct bordering on theft at the shop. Upon his departure, Dziko stole cash amounting to ZAR2 000 and came to Zimbabwe where he stayed for one month.

Dziko reportedly went back to South Africa to look for alternative employment and was apprehended by Mabure and some other two unknown male adults.

It is further alleged that Mabure and the two male adults assaulted Dziko after they tied his hands and legs using ropes and he sustained some injuries on his back and face. During the assault, Dziko was locked up in a room at the now deceased’s premises and Mabure and the two unknown male adults left.
Dziko managed to untie himself from the ropes and walked away but then met Mabure at the gate.

It is the State’s case that Mabure started assaulting Dziko and during the scuffle the accused picked a screwdriver and stabbed the deceased several times on his throat and left him writhing in agony.

Further allegations are that Dziko took Mabure’s two cellphones and cash amounting to ZAR30 000 and left South Africa for Zimbabwe. Bezel Mubure discovered the offence and reported the matter at Cleveland Police station, Johannesburg, South Africa under case number 10/09/21.

On 7 September 2021, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information from a reliable source to the effect that Dziko committed a murder case in South Africa on the 2nd of September 2021.

On the same day, detectives reacted to information which then led to the arrest of Dziko at Mashwede Service Station along Highglen Road, Harare.
