Ex Liverpool footballer Sadio Mane is accused of allegedly ‘grooming’ a minor.
Former Liverpool footballer Sadio Mane has been criticised on social media after reports that he wed his 18-year-old girlfriend, Aisha Tamba, over the weekend. To add insult to injury, the soccer star allegedly pursued the young woman at just 16 years old.
Sadio and Aisha wed in his home country of Senegal. The star – who is 31 – plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
SADIO MANE DRAGGED OVER ROMANCE WITH ALLEGED MINOR
According to Sports Brief, Sadio Mane tied the knot with Aisha Tamba in a lavish Islamic ceremony in Dakar on Sunday, 7 January. The wedding was attended by family, friends, and fellow footballers, reports the publication.
Sadio – who returned home to Senegal to compete in his national team ahead of Afcon- and his new bride have a surprising age gap.
According to Sene News, Sadio pursued Aisha – who hails from his hometown of Bambali – when she was 16 years old.
The French publication claims that the footballer waited until Aisha was 18 before asking her to be his bride. Aisha is reportedly a religious studies student.
While many have congratulated the Senegalese star for his recent nuptials, others have voiced their disapproval over reports he allegedly pursued a minor.

In 2022, Sadio – who has been linked to female sports presenters Melissa Reddy and Carol Tshabalala – opened up about the type of woman he would marry.
He told Tribuna: “I’ve seen a lot of girls asking me why I am not married. But sorry you might be wasting your time. The woman I marry will not be on social networks.
He added: “I want to marry a woman who respects God and prayers well. Everyone has their own way of making their choice of love.”
