Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, known by her stage name Makhadzi, has plenty to celebrate as she released her first album under her own record label Makhadzi Entertainmet, Mbofholowo on Friday.

To top this achievement, Makhadzi said her dream had further come true after she spotted a billboard of herself in New York.
“Can someone write a caption for me? I am crying I cannot type properly. GOD, I am on New York Billboard. @spotify thank you for making my dream come true. To all my fans thank you for streaming my music,” she wrote.

Her album Matorokisi steered her into national stardom, with other projects such as Kokovha and African Queen cementing her artistry.

The award-winning artist sings in her home language, Tshivenda, and has proved that language is not a barrier in music.

She grew up listening to African music, citing the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah, Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnumz, and also a Venda artist called Zozo as her idols.

Makhadzi has managed to keep her head above water after woes with her record label and is now reaping the fruits of her labour in the form of a new album.

Her album on Friday was sitting on the number one spot on iTunes.

She has shared with her fans that she put her heart and soul into it. In September Makhadzi was announced as music streaming platform Spotify’s EQUAL Africa artist.

Makhadzi joined the list of other female artists such as Tayla, Qing Madi, and Khanyisa.

“As an artist, you can do music in any way you like as long as there’s a nice melody, nice vibe, and a good message. I make nice melodies for people to dance and I love that I sing in my own language,” she shared
